JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE arranged by Charles Fernandez is a traditional Gospel song and the most frequently used tune in the “hymn” or “dirge” section of a Jazz Funeral. This version of Closer Walk was adapted from my original Woodwind Quintet arrangement. In this arrangement, I reworked the material to make sure each section had some featured material.

In the final “everyone is a soloist” verse, you will find snippets of “The Liberty Bell March” , “Dixie” and “Stars and Stripes Forever”. The Liberty Bell march is included because the arrangement was done while living in England, and is a nod to Monty Python.
