Performance Notes
Alexandre Luigini was a French opera composer, but his best known work was the “Ballet Egyptien” (1875). There were 8 movements that were split into two suites. This arrangement is of the most popular suite.
I arranged this piece so that the melody would flow through all of the flutes, not just Flute 1. The altos, basses and contrabass have numerous sections where they are featured.
The piccolo solos should not be doubled by a flute in any of the movements. In the 3rd movement, you could supplement the flute solo with another flute, if needed, but I don’t recommend doubling Part 1 in general.
