Introspective Blues #1 for Flute and Harp - Aaron Alter
Introspective Blues #1 for Flute and Harp - Aaron Alter
Program Notes by Aaron Alter:
The blues can reflect many moods. Introspective Blues #1 for flute and harp starts out reflecting the state of mind of a person thinking a lot about "why things are the way they are" but not ready to express it outwardly. As the work unfolds, our "hero" gains more courage, and by the ending, we hear the outward expression that was suppressed initially.
“Introspective Blues #1” for flute and harp will have it New York premiere on August 25, 2017 by the Locrian Chamber Players.
December 12, 2017. Aaron Alter's "Introspective Blues #1" (for flute and harp) has been selected as a semi-finalist in the 2017-2018 American Prize Competition, Instrumental Chamber Music Composition Division. His "Homage to Josquin" (for two flutes, piano, electric bass and drum set) was also selected.
